1lb in 9 days

Has anyone every congratulated you for gaining 14% of your body weight in only 9 days?

My dear son gained 1lb in the 9 days between his newborn and 2 week appointment. The doctor was so excited since I was sort of worried about how nursing was going. We are also supplementing about 2 oz of formula during the night to get some extra shut-eye.

Ahhh...what it would be like to be high-fived for putting on weight : )

For me... I am happy to report that I am back down to my pre-baby weight! That's not to mention the 30lbs I need to lose on top of that but I'm happy that none of the baby weight stuck around!

We had a newborn photo shoot last Wednesday and saw some of the proofs today. I should have them by next Wednesday and am very excited to share them with you all!

2 weeks down

Little Owen is two weeks old already! I can't believe how time flies.

Things are going well. He nurses like a champion and is a pretty good sleeper. He has some nice periods of quiet alert time which is wonderful for gazing into his sweet face.

Now----the other two----holy cow. I think they drank the crazy water because it has been insane. Kellen runs around the house just screaming---for no reason. He screams when he's mad, he screams when he's happy, he screams when he's playing. He's always been loud (we nicknamed him pterodactyl when he was a baby because of the incessant screaming) but this is outside the sound barrier.
And Miss Olivia .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I just don't know what to do with her. She is incredibly misbehaved and laughs at any attempt to discipline her. Pretty sure I'm this close to calling Dr. Phil or Super Nanny.

I guess I still need to give it some time for them to adjust. This is a life changing event and everyone adjusts differently. But if I'm still fighting this battle when Owen is 15, one of them is going to be sent down the river in a basket.

3 days old

Owen is 3 days old already. I can't believe how fast this hospital stay has gone. We've decided to stay here one more night to hopefully get my pain under control before heading home tomorrow.

Nursing is going okay-he's a champion latcher but doesn't seem to suck for very long before falling asleep. I'm going to start pumping after each feeding to relieve some of the pressure and keep the supply going. Hopefully, when my milk comes in 100%, he'll realize it's worth staying awake for!

Big brother and sister have taken pretty well to him. They are interested in holding him and are excited for him to come home. I think they will be wonderful siblings and we hope to keep them on their schedule as best we can.

That's all for now! I'll post more pics once we get home!

**Be sure to enter the BG/Grandma El's giveaway! Post it on your blog and I'll add 3 extra entries for you!**

Bum Genius All-In-One & Grandma El's Diaper Rash Cream Duo Review and Giveaway!

If you've ever been too scared to try cloth diapering, I would suggest trying the Bum Genius All-In-One! It's a great way to get started and a wonderful solution for daycare or second-guessing daddies!

Pros-
  • No stuffing required. This means less "pieces" to worry about and faster application.
  • Goes on just like a traditional disposable-thus allowing dads, daycare providers or Grandmas ease of use.
  • Comes in sizes so you'll be sure to get the best fit.
  • Has a hidden pocket to add a booster or doubler for heavy wetter and nap time/nighttime.
Cons-
  • Does take a bit longer to dry than pocket diapers or prefolds/covers. Line drying is the best way to keep them functional for longer, but I usually throw mine in the dryer for 10-15 minutes on medium just to get the rest of the dampness out completely.
  • Since these are sized, you will need to buy up sizes as baby grows vs. a one-size solution.
You can find the Bum Genius All-In-One at Cottonbabies.com

So, what do I use when we do have the occasional diaper rash while using my new Bum Genius All In One Diapers, you might be asking? That's easy-- Grandma El's Diaper Rash Cream!

Cloth diaper safe, it doesn't contain any of those gross ingredients that leave a smell or coating on your cloth diaper. The fragrance is clean and fresh and the texture is smooth. All the ingredients are natural and organic, hypoallergenic and preservative-free.

I am lucky not to have a big problem with diaper rash but when Kellen was on antibiotics for a killer double ear infection, the diarrhea was not too far behind, which meant diaper rash. I typically use California Baby but wanted to try something new. I ordered Grandma El's and was amazed at how quickly it worked. I saw instant results the first night and the rash was completely gone after just 3 nights. I like the texture as it's more of an ointment than a cream and the "fragrance" is pleasant and not mediciney. I would highly recommend it!

So..... WHAT CAN YOU WIN??

A large Bum Genius All In On Diaper in Clementine, a 2 oz tube of Grandma El's diaper rash cream and a $5 coupon towards a future online purchase of Grandma El's!!

Pregnancy Update: 39 weeks

How far along? 39 weeks 2 days. Tomorrow is the big day!

Total weight gain/loss: Haven't gained anything since my 36 weeks appt. My appetite has been pretty flat but the baby is definitely growing. I think I will have gained 30 lbs overall which is pretty normal for me.

Stretch marks? At this point, I just don't care anymore!

Best moment this week? Our baby boy joining our family.

Movement: It was slowed a lot. I was monitored at my appt last Friday and he's definately moving and doing well, just getting big and crowded in there.
Food cravings: Not really. I haven't been hungry much the last few weeks.

Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Still been having BH contractions but nothing is happening.

Belly Button in or out? Flat
What I miss: Breathing (again). I've been so busy being off work this past week and trying to get things done around the house but I can't go for more than a few minutes without stopping to catch my breath. So annoying!
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our baby boy tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers they will call today and let us know my surgery time can be moved up. Otherwise, we'll be going in for surgery at 4:00 pm tomorrow.

Weekly Wisdom: Your life is about to drastically change. It will be wonderful, scary, exciting, nerve-wracking, stressful. fullfilling and totally, totally crazy. That's better than boring, right?

Have a wonderful week! I will post updates as soon as I'm able. There's WiFi at the hospital!!

Milestones: This is my last week of being pregnant for the rest of my life. I'm enjoying it but am glad it's almost over : )

Happy 4th of July!!

I just don't understand how blowing off obnoxious fireworks and keeping your neighbors awake is the most appropriate way to celebrate our country's freedom.

It's stupid.

Sparklers are at least pretty. But bottle rockets?? All they do is pop?? Boring and totally lame.

So- to my stupid neighbors that have been blowing off firecrackers and all kinds of other CHINESE made fireworks since 2:30 this afternoon, you guys suck.

Happy 4th of July!
